This is the 4th feature in our series. We’ve all experienced it at one time or another – that hotel room you’d love to take home. Well, thinking like the pros responsible for some of the most inviting and fabulous hotels in the world, means you can bring that ‘atmosphere’ they create into your own home. We found a fabulous article by John Wogan from the magazine, Real Simple, who put his expertise to work and highlighted the pros tips.
Our 4th feature is the Hotel Esencia, in XPU-HA, Mexico. This hotel sits in a pristine natural setting and their decorators brought that flow into the rooms and created striking aesthetics using simple items; something that is easily recreated in our own HOMES. Check out the link here for a visual snapshot of this lovely décor, and see the decorator’s tip section below.
- Add visual interest using colorful textiles. With this style color is the anchor for the textiles and creating an elegant playfulness is the goal.
- Show inspiration by displaying coffee-table books. Hotel Esencia adds changing inspiration by displaying titles and changing the pages every few days. In our HOMES, our coffee table books don’t need to be stagnant; give them life by opening them up to a special page, and change it every so often. The color on the pages can playfully interact with the color scheme of your room.
- Create surprise with unusual and unique items that reflect you – be that a stunning memento from a trip, or a hobby reflection such as horses, to a smattering of fabulous photos. The key is to make sure the items are unique (not mass produced somewhere) and that they tell a part of your story.
